This ended up being the last song demoed, and the first song recorded for the album. The lyrics and concept are basically a merger of carnival life and a late night watching of the movie, The Revenge of the Nerds. When he was 19, Jason Thomson ran away with the carnival (no, seriously). He always looked back on that time with an equal measures of disappointment and appreciation. There was a certain charm, kinship and failed reality that enveloped life in the carnival. It wasn't until a viewing of the 80's movie (Revenge of the Nerds) where the right metaphor for describing the carnival life became apparent. Although seemingly flawed and discarded, "carnies" in their bohemian lifestyle actually have claimed their own victory.
